Setting up a brand new race team, as it turns out, is a lot of work. So it would probably seem sensible to focus on the task at hand and not burden ourselves with any extra commitments, like, say, sending a team of riders and an accompanying support crew to an international stage race…
But this is cycling – the idea isn’t to make things easy for yourself.
And so, after a few weeks of panicked organisation, Team LDN will be lining up for its very first race on Wednesday 5th September 2018, somewhere in the South of Ireland. I don’t know where exactly – I wasn’t in charge of booking the accommodation. At least, for the riders sake, I hope I wasn’t…
We’ve got a strong team of 4 riders lining up for the race. It was supposed to be 5, but we’ve unfortunately had a late withdrawal due to last-minute work commitments. We might be a team, but we’re not professionals, sadly, and the day job still comes first…
But within our team we’ve got a wealth of experience, skill and power, and most importantly a great team spirit and bonds between riders. All of whom are raring to go!
The Ras na mBan consists of 6 stages over 5 days. They’re hilly and tough, and given they’re in Ireland, probably also a little wet. But we know that our girls will overcome all of that without complaint.
Along with the riders, we’re sending a top quality support team – our team manager Ian, mechanic Mark and our star guest support man Steve!
They’re all starting their long journeys to Ireland tomorrow morning. I think…I wasn’t in charge of travel. I was just in charge of setting up this blog, which is clearly the most important part of this whole endeavour.
Anyway, I hope you’ll join us in wishing our team the very best of luck at the 2018 Ras na mBan!
